AFTER THE STORM
Six signs your roof took damage
You don't need to climb a ladder. These are the things you can spot from the ground — and the ones that mean it's time to have a professional take a look.
Shingle grit in the gutters
Heavy granule loss in gutters and downspouts is a classic sign of hail impact, even when shingles look fine from below.
Lifted or missing shingles
Wind creases and tears break the shingle’s seal. Once wind gets underneath, the next storm makes it worse.
Dents in vents & flashing
Soft metal shows hail first. Dings on vents, valleys, and gutters usually mean the shingles were hit too.
Water stains inside
Ceiling or wall discoloration can appear days or weeks after a storm — by then, water has been moving a while.
Damage on the block
Hail doesn’t skip houses. If neighbors are getting roofs replaced, yours was in the same storm.
Siding & gutter damage
Cracked siding or bent gutters after a storm often ride along with roof damage — we inspect all of it in one visit.
HOW IT WORKS
From inspection to final nail
Storm restoration follows a real sequence — and you stay in control at every step.
Free inspection
A Crown roofer walks your roof, siding, and gutters and photographs every finding. You see everything we see.
Honest report
We tell you plainly whether the damage is worth a claim. If it isn’t, we say so — no manufactured urgency, no pressure.
Claim guidance
If you file, we provide our documentation to your insurer, can meet the adjuster on-site, and explain each step in plain language. The decision is always your insurer’s — and the choice of contractor is always yours.
Built to last
Owens Corning, GAF, or IKO systems installed by our own experienced crew — backed by craftsmanship and product manufacturer warranties.
BUILT ON HONESTY
Straight answers about insurance claims
After a hailstorm, the Twin Cities fill up with out-of-state trucks making big promises. Here's exactly where we stand.
What we do
- Inspect and photograph all storm damage, free of charge
- Give you an honest read — including “this doesn’t need a claim”
- Share thorough documentation with your insurance company
- Meet your adjuster on-site when you want us there
- Handle the full repair — roof, siding, and gutters — as one local, licensed crew
What we never do
- Pay, waive, rebate, or absorb your deductible
- Promise your claim will be approved, or guarantee what insurance will cover
- Inflate damage or claim scope
- Pressure you to sign anything on the spot
Minnesota law (Statute 325E.66) prohibits contractors from covering your deductible. If a contractor offers to “take care of it,” that’s illegal — and it tells you how they do business. Walk away.

“Last summer, part of our backyard tree fell down in a windstorm, causing damage to our roof, siding and gutters. Crown was so helpful, not only in restoring our home with new siding and a new roof and repairing gutters but also … helping us navigate our insurance claim and communication with our adjuster. We did hit one hiccup along the way and Crown did everything to fix the issue and make it right. We are thrilled with the final work and how everything turned out.”Amy F. · Google review

GOOD QUESTIONS
Storm damage & insurance FAQs
-
Yes — free and no-obligation, whether or not you hire us and whether or not you file a claim. You keep the photo documentation either way.
-
We guide you through the whole process: we share our inspection documentation with your insurer, can meet your adjuster on-site, and explain what each step means. What we can't do is decide the claim — approval and coverage are always your insurance company's call, and anyone who promises otherwise is overpromising.
-
Yes. Under Minnesota law (Statute 325E.66), contractors cannot pay, waive, or rebate your deductible — so we never will, and you should be wary of anyone who offers to.
-
Often not — many policies allow time to file after a storm, but windows vary by insurer and waiting makes damage worse and claims harder to document. The best move is a free inspection now so you know what you're working with; check your policy or agent for your exact filing deadline.
